Claire Hallett Named Educator Of The Week

This week’s Educator of the Week is Claire Hallett who is known for treats her students as if they were her own children; guiding them on the path of higher learning and helping to improve their communication skills. Claire Hallett teaches 5th Grade Reading & Writing at Schorlemer Elementary School. She helps to teach the students that these skills they are practicing such as spelling and writing skill are important for their future. But Claire Hallett also shows that these lessons can be fun, encouraging them to reach about items that interest them and then writing essays about it.
"Well I didn't really like reading and she helped me find a book that I liked…And she helped me to read better," said student Avery Jewell.
Another of Hallett’s students Destiny Koontz talked about her improvement saying, "I wasn't doing very well in reading the first nine weeks. And now the 2nd nine weeks of class, she has been helping me a whole lot more."
Always being sensitive to her student’s needs, she gives personal attention to those who might need extra help in class. However, she also has an open door policy for students who many need to talk about personal issues.
Hallett’s student Jadyn Killian commented on this saying, "I was having some problems at school one day, and she took me out of the classroom one day. She helped me by just talking about it with me."
"I hope that when my kids graduate, that they remember I cared about them, even more than they could read or write. But that I really cared about them and what happens to them," said Educator of the Week, Claire Hallett.
